Not everything worth reading needs to lead the evening news. Sometimes the best story of the day is the one hiding off to the side—the forgotten person, the strange bit of history, the discovery nobody noticed, or something human enough to make you smile.
That’s what the Back Page is for. It doesn’t have to solve anything, change anybody’s vote, or explain what’s wrong with civilization before lunch. Sometimes a good story has already earned its keep just by being worth telling.
This one, however, is just here while we figure out where to put the furniture. It will be unemployed shortly.
